As reported by The Miami Herald, State of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi continues to try to fight the inevitable availability of all Florida couples, same-sex and not, to legally marry (and divorce) in the state. As reported by the Herald, the ACLU of Florida easily notes how this attorney general is failing to uphold the importance of the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling which made DOMA unconstitutional, “This is how an attorney general uses the law to serve an ideology and partisan politics, rather than justice.” You can read Ms. Bondi’s brief here, but I am sure you will find that it does not serve the purposes of justice when so many residents in Florida deserve the right to enter into marriages and to divorce within the state. Requiring these residents to have to travel to other states cannot be afforded by all of those in Florida.
