For those interested in seeking EB-5 capital, it’s very important that business developers have an understanding of capital markets. A successful EB-5 project should utilize not only foreign investor funds, but should have other equity partners in the deal. This is not a requirement under USCIS law, policy or the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. But it is highly recommended by foreign migration agents and licensed broker-dealers in the United States marketing EB-5 projects. Having “skin in the game” is commonly mentioned in the EB-5 marketplace. So, before seeking EB-5 capital, be sure you have studied the potential for other forms of capital. Here in the State of Florida, according to a terrific report by Cassel & Salpeter & Co., private equity deal capital flowing into Florida is performing stronger than in the rest of the United States. What this article does not mention is how much EB-5 capital is at play in the State of Florida on a larger scale. Given the number of EB-5 Regional Centers which are sprouting up in Florida, I imagine that there might be some interesting figures associated with this Florida equity report.
