Diversity Immigrant Visa Program
Every year commencing around October 1 the U.S. Department of State allows foreign nationals from designated countries to apply under the Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program. This blog post will be updated annually with the most current information. Under Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), U.S. law provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants,” from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. A limited number of visas are available each fiscal year. The DVs are distributed among six geographic regions and no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year.
For a list of countries/areas by region whose natives are eligible for DV-2016 and DV-2015, please refer to the DV Instructions provided below for the current application period.
The entry submission period for the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program’s 2016 selection (DV-2016) is from 12:00PM EDT (GMT -4) on October 1, 2014 to 12:00PM EDT (GMT -4) on November 3, 2014. Please visit this site to start your application:
